About this dish
Savoyard fondue is a traditional dish from the Savoie region of France. It is mainly made of melted local cheeses such as Abondance, Emmental, and Beaufort, mixed with dry white wine and sometimes flavored with garlic and kirsch. It is usually served in a cast-iron pot placed on a burner. The ritual consists of dipping pieces of bread cut into cubes into the melted cheese using long forks. The smooth texture, the rich blend of flavors, and the convivial aspect of sharing the same pot make this dish a staple of mountain meals and evenings with friends or family.
