About this dish
Tartiflette is a delicious dish originating from the Savoie region in France. It is a hearty gratin made with potatoes, onions, bacon lardons, and reblochon, a creamy cheese typical of the region. To prepare tartiflette, the potatoes are first cooked, often previously boiled or sautéed, then mixed with sliced onions and lardons that have been browned in a pan beforehand. Everything is then placed in a baking dish. The reblochon, cut in half or into slices, is placed on top, with the rind of the cheese facing up so it turns golden during baking. The dish is then baked until the cheese melts and forms a gratin, coating the ingredients in a creamy layer. Served hot, tartiflette is synonymous with conviviality and is especially popular during the cold winter months.
