About this dish
Naan is a traditional flatbread of Indian origin, famous for its soft texture and its ability to accompany a variety of dishes. Made mainly of wheat flour, water, yeast, and yogurt, it is often enriched with ingredients like garlic, cilantro, or butter for extra flavor. Its preparation begins with kneading the dough, which is then left to rise. Once risen, the dough is divided into small portions, rolled into oval or round shapes, and cooked at high heat. Traditionally, naan is baked in a tandoor, a clay oven, which gives it a distinctive texture, slightly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Served hot, often brushed with butter or ghee, naan is a popular accompaniment to dishes like curry, dal, or other spicy meals, soaking up the sauces while adding a pleasant sweetness to the meal.
