About this dish
Tandoori chicken is a traditional dish of Indian cuisine, characterized by its spicy flavors and distinctive reddish color. This dish is named after the tandoor, a cylindrical clay oven used for cooking. The chicken is marinated in a blend of spices, including garam masala, cumin, paprika, and often red food coloring to intensify the color. Yogurt is also a key ingredient in the marinade, adding tenderness to the meat while helping the spices adhere better. After marinating for several hours, or even overnight, the chicken is cooked at high temperature in the tandoor, giving it a slightly crispy exterior while remaining juicy on the inside. Tandoori chicken is usually served with lemon slices and fresh onions, often accompanied by naan bread or basmati rice. Its taste is rich, spicy, and slightly smoky.
