About this dish
Teriyaki salmon is an iconic dish of Japanese cuisine that showcases the richness of salmon through a sweet and savory marinade. Teriyaki, a sauce made of soy sauce, mirin (a sweet rice wine), and sugar, gives the salmon a deep flavor while adding a light caramelized shine to the surface of the fish. After being marinated, the salmon is usually grilled or pan-seared until perfectly cooked, while staying tender and juicy on the inside. The reduced teriyaki sauce coats the salmon in a glossy layer, offering a delicious contrast between salty, sweet, and umami. Served with white rice and sometimes garnished with sesame seeds or green onions, teriyaki salmon is a harmonious combination of simplicity and sophistication, celebrating the delicate nuances of Japanese flavors.
