About this dish

Panna cotta is a traditional Italian dessert whose name literally means "cooked cream". It is made from cream, sugar, and gelatin, mixed and heated until the gelatin dissolves. Once cooled, this preparation sets into a soft, creamy consistency, similar to a custard or jelly. Panna cotta is often flavored with vanilla or other flavorings and can be served with a fruit coulis, caramel, chocolate, or fresh fruit. It is appreciated for its simplicity, its velvety texture, and its ability to pair with many accompaniments. It is quick to prepare, although it requires chilling time to set to the desired consistency. Its elegance and versatility make it a dessert of choice for many occasions.
