About this dish
Mie Goreng is a popular Indonesian dish made of wheat noodles stir-fried in a flavorful sauce and served with a variety of ingredients. The noodles are often fried in oil with vegetables such as onions, carrots, cabbage, and bamboo shoots, as well as proteins like chicken, shrimp, or tofu. The sauce is usually made from a blend of ingredients such as soy sauce, kecap manis (a sweet Indonesian soy-based sauce), garlic, chili, and sometimes tamarind for a tangy touch. Mie Goreng is often served topped with slices of hard-boiled egg, fried shallots, and fresh cilantro leaves to add extra texture and flavor. This dish is appreciated for its combination of salty, sweet, and spicy tastes, as well as its versatility, as it can be adapted according to individual preferences in terms of ingredients and spice level.
