About this dish

The banana split is an iconic, generous ice cream dessert originating from the United States, usually served in an elongated dish. It traditionally consists of a banana split lengthwise, topped with several scoops of ice cream, all drizzled with indulgent sauces (chocolate, caramel, or fruit coulis), finished with whipped cream and decorated with candied cherries. Both spectacular and delicious, the banana split wins people over with the contrast between the coldness of the ice cream, the softness of the banana, and the interplay of crunchy and creamy textures. A true classic of American diners and old-fashioned ice cream parlors, it embodies a fun and festive indulgence.
