Tips for success
- Let it rest before serving. For a fully developed flavor, prepare the sauce at least 30 minutes ahead (ideally 2 hours) and let it rest in the refrigerator so the herbs and spices have time to properly infuse.
- Adjust the texture depending on use. For a thick dip (vegetables, chicken wings), keep the mixture as is. For a runnier salad dressing, add a dash of milk until you reach the desired consistency.
- Favor fresh herbs if possible. Freshly chopped dill and chives give a noticeably brighter flavor than their dried versions, if you have some on hand.
About this dish
Ranch dressing, or Ranch Dressing, is one of the most iconic sauces in American cuisine. It was created in the early 1950s in the United States by Steve Henson, who developed a creamy seasoning based on buttermilk, herbs, and spices. Ranch Dressing then spread widely throughout the United States and became a true classic of American cuisine. Initially used as a salad dressing, it is now also served as a dipping sauce with raw vegetables, chicken wings, fries, potatoes, or even pizzas. Creamy, fresh, and slightly tangy, traditional ranch sauce owes its characteristic flavor in particular to buttermilk, combined with aromatic herbs, garlic, and onion. Its popularity has given rise to many homemade variations, all while retaining this combination of flavors that has become characteristic of American Ranch Dressing.
