Ingredients
- 570 g potato(es)
- 0.5 tsp onion powder
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 30 g unsalted butter
- salt
- pepper
- 1 tbsp chives
Instructions
Preparing the potatoes:
- 1Wash the potatoes and peel them.
- 2Grate the potatoes using a grater.
- 3Squeeze the grated potatoes to remove as much liquid as possible.
- 4Sprinkle the potatoes with onion powder and mix well.
Cooking the hash browns:
- 5Heat a pan over medium-low heat.
- 6Add a little olive oil and butter.
- 7Add the potatoes and spread them into a layer about 1 cm thick.
- 8Cook without stirring for 6 minutes over medium heat, or until the bottom is golden and crispy.
- 9Season the top with salt and pepper.
- 10Flip the hash browns.
- 11Season again with salt and pepper on the other side.
- 12Add a few pieces of butter around the edges (the butter will melt under the potatoes).
- 13Cook without stirring for another 6 minutes or until the potatoes are golden and crispy on the second side.
- 14Remove from the heat and serve, garnished with chives.
